Jesus, Mary and Joseph! (as they say on the sacred isle) those last 10 minutes - after skirting round THE issue for more than 60 rather 'academic' minutes (the question of whether, and if so, how, can we - or can't we - define the 'self') is what 8Q is / should really be (?) all about. (And as a good Zen Buddhist, I must add: remember, if you find the Buddha on the road, kill him!)
Aside: I despair for the US of A until the day they delete that guff about the 'individual' and individual 'rights' being 'self-evident' - it really is so 'last season'!
If you haven't already, you might try and lay your hands on the short book, "There was this goat" (sic) by Antjie Krog et al, which is about that same puzzle, played for much higher stakes namely, "What does 'Ubuntu' really mean when you are looking down the wrong end of a machine gun?"
In short: "community, as lived, on site, not in books, in art, in literature, in court, or what you will - but rather, dust and all." I'll send you a copy if you need one.
Hi, I would very much be interested in hearing your thoughts on my book.
“It explores the ethical complexities of interspecies relations through the lens of an advanced alien civilization called the Jacksons. The novel challenges readers to consider how easily a more advanced civilization might view humans as a resource, mirroring humanity’s own treatment of other species on Earth.

Yeah we skirted around the big issue till the end! I’ll look out that book. Thanks for the recommendation.
Okay, I've finished. I just wanted to say how much I loved this conversation. Really made my morning. Thanks!
Pleasure!
This would have been great on Live. Shame it didn't work out! I'm watching now and keep wanting to comment. :) Loving it so far.
I know. It was super frustrating for him, but we got agile about it so nothing lost. We’ll try again another time I’m sure.
Not being hip enough? haha love it.
Not for Everyone. But maybe for you and your patrons?
Hello there,
I hope this finds you in a rare pocket of stillness.
We hold deep respect for what you've built—and for how.
We’ve just opened the door to something we’ve been quietly handcrafting for years.
Not for mass markets. Not for scale. But for memory and reflection.
Not designed to perform. Designed to endure.
It’s called The Silent Treasury.
A sanctuary where truth, judgment, and consciousness are kept like firewood—dry, sacred, and meant for long winters.
Where trust, vision, patience, and stewardship are treated as capital—more rare, perhaps, than liquidity itself.
The two inaugural pieces speak to a quiet truth we've long engaged with:
1. Why we quietly crave for signals from rare, niche sanctuaries—especially when judgment must be clear.
2. Why many modern investment ecosystems (PE, VC, Hedge, ALT, SPAC, rollups) fracture before they root.
These are not short, nor designed for virality.
They are multi-sensory, slow experiences—built to last.
If this speaks to something you've always felt but rarely seen expressed,
perhaps these works belong in your world.
Both publication links are enclosed, should you choose to enter.

Warmly,
The Silent Treasury
Sanctuary for strategy, judgment, and elevated consciousness
Very informative, great listen!
