At the very heart of this intense conversation, I find that I desperately need to understand Dylan’s point of view, born from experience this life has given him. Listening, learning, I feel as though this is the one and only opportunity to understand. How each of us processes this conversation becomes a visceral and physiological response. It is interesting to think that Dylan changes how we think and feel, with every answer he gives. And at the same time, ALS has not robbed him of his ability to think, to learn and to love. We are learning from each other. And I for one, am honored to listen in , and learn the lessons that will last a lifetime.

“The sun is always shining above the clouds”

Indeed.

Thank you ,Eleanor for finding a way for us to begin to understand, through the questions you have selected . And Kimberly, for never losing your connection with Dylan regardless of the difficult circumstances over time. You shine ever brighter throughout this entire relationship . And please give a gracious thank you to Dylan for allowing us in. To Vikki, proof that there are angels among us.

Thank you for your vulnerable, open heart, Eleanor. Your willingness to be seen in your longing to understand, to feel, to honor — it’s deeply touching. I’ve been fortunate to sit beside Dylan through many of these “silent” but powerful conversations, and they never fail to shift something bedrock in those who dare to listen. To witness his first essay in 2019 for the Unfixed docuseries slowly, quietly, blossom into a book seven years later — and now this conversation — has been a long, intimate journey. I'm tired, but full.

The choice to see kindness in the world is a gift--especially when we have "leaders" who would dominate with hatred and division. Thank you, Dylan, for making that choice and sharing with us how it manifests so brightly, even when your physical body no longer responds in ways that conform to measuring life by a person's productivity, or contributions to the economy.

How sad that we reduce worth to such demeaning and, ultimately, meaningless measurements!

Thank you, Kimberly, as always, for showing how much we can learn from "Unfixedness"--as I've commented before, there are lessons here for everybody.

Many thanks, Eleanor, for bringing us this conversation, and your insightful deepening into the meaning.

I hope everyone in the world gets a chance to deepen into meaning following Dylan's example. You are shining the way for us all. A blessing.

Thank you Dylan, I’ve just finished watching the recording, and in the silence, as I breathed with you, we were in a beautiful, sunlit grove. Thank you all for making it possible to meet and share this time together. The intense feeling of love is captured in the recording and there are no words beyond thank you 🙏💕

Simply to be alive is the greatest gift!

Thank you Dylan, thank you Kimberly, thank you Eleanor, for this incredible interview.

Thank you for sharing your extraordinary experience, Dylan, which is profoundly relevant to all of us:

To surrender to the hitchhiking adventure of the life we're in.

To recognise our limitations as opportunities for spiritual transformation/ evolution.

Pain is pain, suffering is choice. I am not a victim of my circumstance.

Believing that the world is a friendly place as an act of protest.

So much resonance. Such powerful teachings.

💗🙏

The interview revealed not only Dylan's poetic and philosophical soul but his heart as well. Of course, I've watched Kimberly's previous interview--as a key part of her documentary _Unfixed_!

So my heart reaches to you Dylan, and I so hope you see this small note. You are the poetic "horse dragon" of prose and poetry. My soul, if I may say, joins with yours--though I hope this is not an inappropriate assumption. Forgive me, if so, with all my heart.

May I salute you! ~ Mary

"stripping us down to the bare naked branches of youth"

what a remarkable human being

you are Dylan and needless to say equally astounding the quality of those here in this interview so appreciative of a life force they recognise amongst so much other gifts

was somehow from early on suited to make of this horrific

disease an exploration a defiant

retooling of purpose a triumph of gratitude and love which obscures renders mere background the infinite well of courage behind it all

profoundly moving

What an incredibly moving interview and story. I bought the book for my childhood friend who was diagnosed with ALS last summer. Thank you all for helping Dylan’s story find the rest of us.
