The mushrooms and cockroaches have no idea how lucky they will be! Kendall, you are one of my most anticipated, joyous reads each week. From day one, your musings and meaning -makings have captured me and I cannot wait for the day your published book sits on my bed stand. ❤️
“Come what may, it feels like I’ve taken off an itchy sweater and am walking off into the unknown with the sun on my skin.” Love this! Thank you, Kendall and Eleanor, for the great interview. Will run right over and subscribe.
Awesome. Looking forward to reading more of this memoir. I currently subscribe to probably too many people and I haven’t noticed the pattern. Just bits and bobs so far. Great read and congrats on the interview!
that’s a relief. I have this policy, or maybe more like a practice of subscription reciprocity. don’t know if it makes sense.
I don’t advertise it like lots of people do. and I make an exception for people who never post, never note, and only like wild political things, but otherwise it seems like a reasonable thing to do, right?
just don’t know how to sort out my ungodly email inbox now! I need filters on gmail!!
Thanks. Looks like I have email turned off for newsletters and replies. But I still get a ton of emails from Substack.
Seems like new subscribers, stats, Substack tips. It’s a great way to get someone to never open a newsletter! Go Substack!! Now I ignore all your emails!!!🤦♂️
“And I know this trust only happens when you keep showing up to the page- bloody and bruised and skeptical- and still, somehow, something comes of it.”
This really struck home for me!!
Such a great interview with one of my most favorite humans on earth. 😍😍
I LOVED reading you here Kendall!! You DO have a voice worth listening to. Your stories are like NO OTHER. You bring us into your world in a way that inspires hope and belonging. That’s was we all need right now. 💓
Hope and belonging! What a beautiful thing to say, thank you Kaylen!! These kinds of comments keep me firmly seated in my chair with fingers on the keyboard. 💛
Terrific interview. Your answer to question 2 made me smile because it’s the exact same scenario I went through. My podcast didn’t involve famous people but I was hiding behind other voices. Here’s to “the sharp sting of truth” in our writing.
Kendall-I really love your rationale for keeping your writing free for now. You see where you go in the thought of a paywall and choose for you-in your best interest, in the best interest of what may or may not make onto the page. May I just share that, were I in the position-I'd personally want to be a patron of your words because they bring a unique resonance and calm to my life each week (you and a few select others). And this quote right here is just one of many that stop me in my tracks in it's truth for me, who continues to play the risky little game of not stepping up and in: "I was so afraid to fail at the one thing that really mattered to me that I spent a great deal of time failing at things that weren’t so precious, which drained me of quite a lot of energy." Mic drop truth. As always-thank you.
Hi Kendall, I know you from Liz Gilbert's weekly posts. I will start to check out your posts in more detail. Well done on all you've achieved and your beautiful, thoughtful writing Síodhna

Andrew, I am firmly and stubbornly in the camp of Too Many Subscriptions, so you are speaking my language! There are just so many gifted humans here.

You can change your settings on Substack to only get newsletters here on the app instead of in your inbox if that helps. ☺️

Awwww! Love seeing my favorite writers here.
Cheers to the sharp stinging of truth, to invoking the music, to writing to the mushrooms, and the tears that well up! 🥂
Thank you, Kendall. Thank you, Eleanor.
Thank you, Holly!!

Kendall, you are one of my most favourite writers here and it’s most lovely to read your 8Q answers 💛
Emily, this was YOUR doing! I believe you recommended me for this in a note, and here we are. THANK YOU!
True!
Oh my goodness, yes I did 😊💛 and I’m so pleased to read your lovely words x

Cheers to us for trying out podcasting! What a wild ride that was. Even better to find our own voices, though. Here's to not hiding behind others. 🔥
Wow Kendall, I would have imagined you’d been writing for ages and studying the craft. Such raw talent and insight!
Thank you so much, Liz! What a lovely thing to say.
Your chapters are always at the top of my list. Cheers to taking off the itchy sweaters.
