What an excellent, super-interesting interview about your Substack journey, Andrei … and a peek behind the curtains at real life too. Love your writing!
Loved reading your thoughts, Andrei. Resonate with the burnout feeling (that's been me for a little while), even though I'm barely ever opening the app and reading Notes. It's just the constant flood of stuff coming into my inbox. I *want* to read it all, I want to support all the writers, but trying to juggle that, reading books, day job, home life, and actually trying to write my own material ... yeah, the burnout is real.
Your reasons for joining substack mirror mine, in a way. "Where are the readers?". The magazine game, the book launches at book fairs, the creative residences etc, the readers you get from there are mostly other writers - not a bad thing, mind you, a reader is a reader etc, just that as a writer you need a "real" audience, you want your writing to reach and touch people in their normal lives.
This: “I think spending all this time writing essays has helped me craft better characters, too. I know what it’s like to spend weeks inside someone’s head, after doing it for so long with my own, lol. I know what to look for.” Brilliant!
Great interview, Andrew and Eleanor. Fun to see more of the journey.
Thanks for checking it out, Holly! Funnily enough, I wrote these answers back in May, and I had no idea that a few months from then I’d be working on a book. I see now the actual weight of these words, and how true they are. Without Substack, I would not have been able to even begin writing this novella I’m working on.

🤗🫡 appreciate you guys so much!
Always learning over here … there’s gold in here, and a lovely human on a brilliant life journey. Thanks for sharing more of the story, Andrei.
Thanks for checking it out!
Great to learn more about you, Andrei! These questions don't get old :)
No they don’t!
Great interview, thanks both.

Yep, yes it is. Thank you for checking it out, Nathan!

Right! Hey, Eugen, may I ask if you’re also Romanian? Your first name is Romanian, or at least common enough here to presume that you are.
Yes, I am.
Cool! Nice to meet you.
Likewise :)

This was as good as I thought it would be. Excellent job by both of you. - Jim
Cheers, Jim.
Excellent interview Andrei!
Thanks a lot, Martine!
Insightful interview, Andrei. Some really great stuff in here.
🤗
Great to read this, Andrei, and learn more about your writing. Thanks to Eleanor, too for providing this opportunity.
I loved doing this interview!
Great reading more about the behind the scenes of Attempts To Tell The Truth. Cool new logo, Andrei!
Appreciate it! Took me almost exactly two years to find my groove, it seems.
