The story goes that I danced in the arms of Gene Kelly at the end of WWII! He and his family lived three doors away in Washington DC, and it’s perfectly possible that he picked up cute little me, age 3, and danced up the street. My only problem with this scenario is that he had a daughter of the same age. I will never know the truth now.

It’s a lovely idea, just like David Bowie. Pity I can’t remember it. Betsy Blair (his then wife) ended up living near me in London and I phoned her because my mother had met her while I and her daughter played in a paddling pool. She invited me for tea and we got on hugely well but she got sick soon after and died.

I'm not sure I understand what's happening completely, different culture and all, but what I do appreciate is how flawless it was to read. Didn't understand it much, but i enjoyed reading it.

I’ll take that !

That is such a cool story! Bowie is an idol of mine, and I love glimpses of these all too human moments of a creative juggernaut.

Memory is a patchwork of stories stitched together, some raggedy and frayed, sewn in with hemp chord, and others bright silks and gilded threads. This reads like a silken memory woven with gold x
