Claiming you both as my Godparents, fyi. This was brilliant because I've always wanted to go to dinner with you both, but in way where it was acceptable that I didn't say anything and just listened to the two of you talk. Et voila!
Damn! This conversation hits all the spots. The soft ones, the bruised ones, the needs-attention ones. Eleanor you enter into the toughest questions with absolute grace and curiosity, the same way you approach your characters I suppose. And Tommy, hitting those serves right back with equal finesse and tolerance.
Great podcast. Especially the parts discussing what writers go through in order to arrive where they want to end up in their story and also the discussion about rigidity and fluidity. And what is lost when too much rigidity leads to zero fluidity, in writing, in politics (polarization is the ultimate rigidity) and individual real life. Also the discussion about catching the wave and sort of how catching a wave is like writing a good novel. And the difficulty of finding the wave and then figuring out the writer has to do to catch it. Fully enjoyable and enlightening!

Consider me claimed.

OMFG... "Emotionally violent pacifists are not my favorite people." 😂

it was fun to listen to this. Tommy, my wife and your friend Debbie says hello. She was listening as well.
Eleanor, Debbie and Tommy had a mutual friend growing up in NYC.
…and tyranny of choice! Hell yes Tommy!!!
